The principle

Two identical units, one job each.

One unit at the start, one at the finish — anywhere on the track, no official line needed. Each one watches its own infrared beam; as soon as you break the start beam, the signal is sent by radio to the finish unit, which calculates the time on receipt. The result is then sent via Bluetooth to the app, without your phone needing to be in range during the run.

  • 📶 Long-range radio link between the two cells, no direct line of sight needed
  • 🔁 Interchangeable start/finish roles, same units on both sides
  • 📲 Result sent to the app via Bluetooth as soon as you're in range
How it works

In the app

Your progress, run after run, in your track and sprint sessions.

Unlike the virtual timing gates already in the app (calculated by GPS), the Timing Cell kit sets up a physical timer, independent of signal quality — useful when riding alone, on a specific part of the track, or to validate a time that really counts.

01

You place your cells

Start and finish, wherever you want on the track — a whole section, a run of corners, or the full lap.

02

You ride, they time

Nothing to do during the run: the signal goes by radio from one cell to the other, the time is calculated at the finish.

03

The time joins your session

Synced via Bluetooth into your track or sprint session, automatically compared to your previous best runs.

Specifications

What we can already announce.

Units2 strictly identical cells — start/finish role assigned and remembered, interchangeable
DetectionInfrared beam reflected off a passive reflector, no through-beam to wire on both sides
Cell-to-cell linkDedicated long-range radio — reaches beyond line of sight, gets through track obstacles better than a short-range link
Time calculationEntirely on the finish cell's clock, on receipt of the start signal — no drift between two clocks
To the appBluetooth Low Energy — pairing and results, RAD 4 BMX app
Local feedbackBuzzer and two-colour LED on each unit — status visible without getting your phone out
Range, battery life, waterproofingBeing validated in the field — figures announced at launch
Field testing

The prototype is riding, the launch is being prepared.

We're testing the Timing Cell kit in real conditions before putting it on sale — be among the first to know as soon as it's ready, with a launch price.
